Tlio Diggers' Art Union, in aid of the funds of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association and the hostel for returned soldiers and sailors, was drawn today The first prize of £2OOO was won by a Christchurch ticket-holder linger the name "Wendy." He is Mr. Marlborough Low, a newspaper runner. The second prize of £SOO also went to Christchurch, and the third prize of £250 to Auckland. The winner of the £2OOO first prize in the Diggers' Art Union, Mr. Marlborough Low, is a newspaper runner having a small round which he covers ori a bicycle, lie is a married man with four children and his weekly earnings are about £3. When interviewed to-day he said he could not yet realise his good fortune, but when the money came he would no doubt expel ience the greatest thrill of his life. Mr. Low bought his ticket at. a tobacconist's shop on the Saturday before the closing date, put it in his pocket and thought little more about it. When he heard ho had won the prize he had some difficulty in finding the ticket. He declared he had no intention of giving up his newspaper round. Mr. Charles H. Fisher, winner of the second prize of £SOO, is a railway clerk at the Adding!on station. He, is a married man with two young children. He bought the ticket from a man who regularly visits railway offices selling tickets fur an unions.
