MR W. H. IEASCNG. j i The death occurred suddenly at an I hoar vesterday morning of lII'- William ! Henrv" Learning, aged 65, at his residence, i 6. Lawrence Street, JVlount Eden. He was I on the staff of the New Zealand Hehai.d | f or 45 years, and for many years had been ! head of the proof-reading department. ! Born in Yorkshire. England, the late Mri Learning came to New Zealand -when he I was 14 years of age, and for some time I worked at Aratapa. Later he came to j a qckland and joined the New Zeaianu I ITtt-r.at.ti as a copy holder in 1387. j Sir. Learning was first married 12 years ' after his arrival in New Zealand, and in ! 1919 married Miss C. M. Anderson, of Waitings. There are four sons and two daughters by the first carriage and one son. by the second. His brother died ihree years ago, and his sister, Mrs. Holmes, resides at Faiee Avenue. Sandriogbam. Robert Lloyd, who had been in the ' employ of the Justice Department as bailiff since 1909. Mr. Lloyd was 61 years of age and was the son of Mr. John Lloyd, who for over 50 years was Court bailiff at Thames. He was a very keen bowler and popular in many circles. Born at Tcak-aa, he was the only son of the late Mr. Samuel Walker,- who was a farmer and storekeeper in Taakau in the early days. He carried on farming in the Taakau district until 20 years ago, when he disposed of his property there. He subsequently bought land at Katikati. Mr. Walker was a notable athlete in his youth, having been a keen footballer and runnel*. He took a great interest in raring and a number of horses carried his colours on various racecourses in the Auckland Province, He was prominently identified with agricnfoim] shows and had been president of the local Agricultural and Pastoral Association. For a time he was on the directorate of the Katikati Co-operative Dairy Company. He is survived by Mrs, Walter, ihr*» sons and three daughters.
