PRESENTATIONS.

An illuminated address was presented to Mr. George Stubbs, formerly of Mangatangi and now of Auckland, at a larg» eathering held in his honour at Brighton (Kaiaua) on Friday evening. Mr. R. 0. -Findlav, of Miranda, presided and representatives were present from all the surrounding districts from Mercer to Mangere. Tn making tlie presentation, Mi-. J. Dean, district member of the Franklin County Council,, said it was desired to express appreciation of Mr. Stubbs' generous pioneering work, bis wholehearted assistance to his neighbours, especially during the influenza epidemic of 1918. and his excellent work as chairman of the Kaiaua Progressive League. Representatives of local bodies throughout the Wnikato, Rotorua and Thames Valley districts on Friday attended a complimentary social tendered in ?e Aroha to Mr. B. A. 'Meek upon his retirement from the Government Audit Department. Mr. Joseph Price, chairman of the Thames Valley Power Board., presided. The toast of the guest was proposed by the chairman and Mr. T. Hi.nton, who paid a high tribute to the Help-given to local bodies in the past ten years by Mr. Meek. Mr. W. L. Waddell, town clerk of Hamilton, on behalf of M»'. Meek's friends throughout the three dis* tricts, presented to him a cabinet radio set and a crystal bowl.
