SYDNEY'S GREAT BRIDGE.
NAMES ON STRUCTURE.
ARMY OF ASPIRANTS. There are so many persons claiming that their names should be placed on the Sydney Harbour Bridge that there seems to be a possibility of a profit being made out of the business for the St&te Treasurer, says the Sydney correspondent of the Argus. The official programme for the opening of the bridge may be affected to some extent by this rush for recognition. Readers of the discussions are reminded of the last "talkie" they saw and the list of persons associated with it —the producers, the photographers, the scenario editor, the reviewing editor, and half a dozen others, similarly named, followed in small type by the name of the writer of the story. The demand that not merely the de signing engineers, but all engineers who have had anything to do with the bridge, should have their names placed on the structure is followed by a similar claim on behalf of all men who did any work on the bridge. The painters have not jet said anything, but they will surely be heard from. The carters who conveyed the material, the men who worked in quarries or on the craft specially built to bring granite for the pylons, and a host of others, are all classified as "possibles." A small fee charged for the right to have a name on the bridge, plus a charge for the work of inscribing it, would bring •in a large sum, and posterity would bo able to point with pride to ancestors in all callings. > It is the only method whereby the evils of undying jealousy can be avoided.
