A VIGOROUS NOVEL.
Tn " The Law o' the Lariat" (Angus ami Kobcrt'son). Mr. Oliver Strange lias written an interesting novel that, will make a strong appeal tn all who admire " Western " stories of the vigorous type. Manv "Cowboy yarns" fail to entertain, even when they are the only reading matter available, because of (he ridiculous physical and mental attributes given to the characters to make their actions possible. But. " The Law o' the Lariat has a convincing plot. a,nd it is easy to believe in the wonderful marksmanship of the hero, for we havr> believed in such skill ever since Owen "Wister wrote " The Virginian." and Mr. Sf range's " Jint Severn " might easily have graduated from the same school of two-gun fighters as Mr. Wister's famous character. —'" Tho T.«iw o' the La rat," by Oliver Strange. (.Aukub and Robertson.)
