WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

Pukekohe.—The February meeting of the Pukekolie Women's Instituto was held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Monday evening. The president, Mrs. J. H. VVyatt, presided over an attendance of 45 members. It. was decided to mnko a display at the Franklin Show next week and to conduct a stall for the Blind Institute. The Isev. D. M. Cattanach gavo a most interesting talk 011 music, and in demonstration of various points sang several songs, for which Mrs. Onttanacti played the accompaniments. There was also a most helpful roll call, " What I Bring to the Show." The meeting closed with the singing of the National Marcretu.—The institute was fortunate in having a beautiful day for the picnic which was held as the January meeting at Mr. R. McCaiToU's property. The prize for the jumbled words competition was won by Mrs. Dirties, of the Panaroa branch. In response to the roll call for " A Joke," many humorous tales were given. A treasure hunt was enjoyed !>y the children. Afternoon tea, provided by the members, brought a very enjoyable gathering to a close. Kn i para Flats.—The monthly meeting of the institute was held on Wednesday. Arrangements were made for the institute's first birthday party, which had been postponed until March. Mrs. Coley gave a demonstration of making mats out of sugarbags, which was much anpreci- , ated. One now member was enrolled. The hostesses were Mis. Thomson and Miss Morison. The competition for the bestarranged bunch of flowers was won by Mrs. Oldfield. Oparau.—A meeting of the institute was held in the hall on February 28, Miss Sandilands presided. It was decided to hold a show in March. A competition was won by Mrs. Warner. Mesdnmcs C. Newton, Wright and Misses E. Scott and A. Newton were hostesses. The afternoon ended -with community singing.
