OBITUARY.
MIL ALEXANDER McNEIL. The death has occurred of Mr. Alexander Robert McNeil, well-known in Auckland business circles until his retirement about, two years ago owing to illhealth. Mr. McNeil was born in Balclntha. his grandparents being among the original settlers of that district and one member of the family becoming the first Mayor of Balclutha. lie was educated in the South and joined the Christchurch staff of the old Colonial Bank. Subsequently he entered into commercial pursuits in Auckland and established Ins own business. In tho " nineties " Mr. McNeil was keenly interested in aquatics, being a member of St. George's Rowing Club. He is survived by his wife and one brother, Mr. J. B. McNeil, of Auckland. Ml!. Educated privately lie entered the law as a young man. but later started sheopfarming with his four brothers, and was substantially successful. Mr. Barker leaves a widow and four daughters. MR. F. J.
