Lengthv evidence was called for the prosecution in support of the allegations of thefl. and several witnesses deposed to some of the stolen notes having beea negotiated on different occasions by'each of the accused. The healing continued until late in the evening, and at the conclusion of the evidence each pleaded not guilty and wai committed for trial. Counsel sought that Thomas Brewer's bail should be renewed at £4OO, as was fixed before last, week's remand, b«t the police objected in view of certain happening's that dav of which they had became aware- The Court increased Thomas Brewer's bad to £IOOO. the same as that of his brother.
The robbery occurred in ilaitland Street. Invercarcill Sonth. on July 3. Mr. George McChesney. pay clerk of iba company, had draivn the money from th® bank in cash and each man's wages bad. been placed in an envelope.
