MURDER OF OLD MAN.
BODY FOUND IN WHARE.
BRUTAL ATTACK INDICATED. CRIME BY PERSON UNKNOWN. NQ WEAPON DISCOVERED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PItKSS ASSOCIATION.] BLENHEIM, Thursday. The adjourned inquest into the death of Mr. James Flood, aged 75 years, who lived alono in a whare in Picton, was held to-day before the coroner, Mr. E. J. Hill. Mr. Flood was found dead with his throat cut on November 5. He was lying on the floor of his whare with the door locked and tho key missing. No weapon was found near the body. Medical evidence showed that deceased's skull was fractured and his head nearly severed front his body. The coroner said the medical evidence showed that the injuries could not have been self-inflicted. The wounds were of such a nature as to leave no doubt that they were tho result of a murderous attack.
The verdict would be that deceased died from extensive wounds in the throat and a fracture of the skull, such wounds having been inflicted by some person or persons unknown.
