SPIRIT OF OPTIMISM.
NEED OF THE TIMES.
ADVICE OF A MINISTER. " There is one thing that every business man needs, that we all need; that is, a spirit of optimism, a determination to look for the silver lining behind the cloud of depression," declared the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Justice, when addressing the conference of the New Zealand Master Grocers' Federation in Wellington this week. "The lesson wo are all learning to-day should bo of value to us in tho future, but nieanwhilo it is t.ho duty of each of us to face his difficulties with patience, courage and resolution, and to look with confidence for an early turn of the tide. " Instead of the gloomy pessimism which is prevalent around us. our chief feeling should be one of thankfulness that we are to-day a free people. Had we lost the Great War, our worry would not be low prices coupled with consequent lack of money—it would lie the loss of our freedom.'* He added that the present depression was the aftermath of the war, but that it would pass, like all depressions.
