FAILURES IN WELLINGTON. FARMERS ALSO SUFFER. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Thumlay. « For the year 1931, 212 petitions in bankruptcy were filed in the Wellington district, being distributed as follows: Wellington city and suburbs, 81; \\ anganui, 41; Palmerston North, 47; Pahiatua, 5; Masterton, 22; Taihape, 16. An analysis of the causes of failure shows that last year builders suffered most, 24 seeking the protection of the Court. Next on the list came:—Farmers, 18; labourers, 16; grocers and storekeepers, 13; confectioners, 6; contractors, 6; salesmen, motor engineers and farm hands, 5 each; restaurant proprietors, land agents, company managers, bakers and married women, 4 each; golf professionals, painters * and paperhangers. carriers, engineers and mechanics, 3 each.
