GAOL FOR SEAMEN.
RIOTS AT GREENOCK. TROUBLE ON PORT PIRIE. LONDON, Jan. 11. Thomas O'Neil and John Harlcy, of Crccnock, were sentenced to 60 days' imprisonment for rioting at Prince's Pier, Greenock, in an effort to prevent a crew joining the Port Pirie on December 19. Robert Maguire was sentenced to 10 days' imprisonment. Tlio evidence showed that in consequence of a disputo in which the Seamen's Minority Movement intervened it becanva impossible to sign on a crew at Glasgow. Accordingly the Port Pirie was taken to Greenock- and a crew was sent from London. The accused were members of a hostile crowd which stoned the motor-bus in which 43 members of the crew were being taken to the dock. The bus was damaged and an official of the Shipping Federation was injuied.
