SPORT WITH BIG FISH.
CATCH NEAR CAPE BRETT. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] RUSSELL. Wednesday. After being played for about 25 minutes, a swordfish weighing 1511b. was landed oft Bird Rock, near Cape Brett, to-day, by Mr. Keith Stokes, of Auckland, fishing from the launch Alma G. A short time previously a fish of good size had been hooked, but after a tussle lasting about five minutes the line broke. School fish are reported to be returning to the grounds, after being absent for a few days. N6 important catches were secured by Lady Yule to-day. The weather in the morning was not very favourable. Officers of the sloops Veronica, and Laburnum, which are at present at Russell, have been trying their luck at big-game fishing.
