FORGERY ALLEGED.
OTHER CHARGES PENDING. REMAND OF THE ACCUSED. Arrested by Detective McWhirter shortly after noon yesterday, Harold Fletcher Tomlinson, aged 50, appeared later before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court on a charge of forging a receipt. Tomlinson was charged with forging a receipt at Auckland on or about December 3, 1928, by erasing the figures £lO 6s and inserting £ll 15s in their place, with intent that they should be acted on as genuine. A remand until January 27 was requested by Detective-Sergeant T. Kelly, who said about eight charges of forgery against the accused were pending. Counsel for Tomlinson asked tho magistrate if the accused's name could be suppressed, Mr. Hunt replying that such a course could scarcely be acceded to when so many charges were concerned. The remand was granted, bail in the sum of £l5O being allowed, with the provision that Tomlinson should report daily to the police.
