HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. FINE TO CLOUDY. Tim following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. 11. M. Vincent last evening:—A small westerly depression is passing in the south, while a tropical disturbance is developing north-westward of the Dominion. Indications favour mainly fair to fine weather in most districts, although cloudy to overcast at times, with showers in North Auckland and extreme southern districts. Southerly winds, moderate to strong, backing to east, then freshening. Seas rough and increasing on the east coast. Local outlook: Fair to cloudy, followed by showers after about 18 hours. Warmer temperatures. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.00 in, Midnight, Tuesday .. .. 30.05 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, G9deg.; Minimum, 5DUeg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as followsA slight anticyclone is moving on to New Zealand. Pressure is very uniform over Australia. Indications are for moderate to fresh south to south-west winds, later decreasing and-veering to west and north-west in Foveaux Strait. Seas moderate. Variable and light to moderate winds and smooth to moderate seas in the Eastern Tasman Sea. A few scattered coastal showers in the South Island, but weather still generally fine, with moderate temperatures. RAINFALL RECORD.
