MOTOR-CYCLISTS INJURED.
CAPSIZE OF A MACHINE. HUSBAND AND WIFE HURT. Serious injuries were received by a husband and wife, Mr. Ralph McAuley, aged 27, and Mrs. Rene McAuley, aged 28, of Parawai, Thames, when the motor-cycle and sidc-car on which they were riding overturned in St. Luke's Road, Sandringham, shortly before noon yesterday. Both received head injuries and in addition Mr. McAuley was injured internally. The motor-cycle, which Mr. McAuley was riding, with his wife in the side-car, was travelling along St. Luke's Road behind a motor-car, and just as the cycle drew level to pass the car swung to the right. The driver of the car saw the other machine in time and swerved sharply to the left, averting a collision, but the motor-cyclist turned his machine to the right at the same time, so suddenly that it capsized. Both Mr. and Mrs. McAuley were thrown heavily. They were taken to the Auckland Hospital in the St. John ambulance. Mr. McAuley's condition was stated to be serious last evening, while that of Mrs. McAuley was not serious.
