MOTOR-CAR THEFTS.

THE LATEST METHOD. TOWING AWAY WITH ROPES. A new method of stealing motor-cars has been noticed in New South Wales. A mnn drove up to a private hotel and parked his small motor-car by the kerbside in front of the building. The car disappeared. He inquired in the neighbourhood, and learned that a motor-car had been noticed with a rope around a little car towing it away, as if it had broken down. That was the last seen of the small car, says a correspondent. It was by no means an isolated instance. .More than one owner has detected thieves in the act; of adjusting ropes, but tio arrest has yet been made. There have be=n many thefts of cars in other ways. Some have been found stripped of everything of value that could be removed. Others were driven over Ben Buckler at Pondi or' the cliffs near Sublime Point, Btilli. after having been stripped. Owners are having a more difficult time generally than before. There is a great of slashing of tyres reported. Not only loss, but much inconvenience is occasioned. Tyre-slashing is attributed to various persons and groups of a few persons. Disgruntled, self-appointed minders of cars are hlamed for some of it and former taxi-drivers also are suspect. Some diivers have had the cruel experience of rival taxi-drivers slitting their tyres.
