WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
Huntly.—The Huntly Institute held its final meeting for the year in tho Town Hall. Tho secretary briefly read the past, year's reports, which had been very successful. A most instructive lecture and demonstration on " i'irst Aid was given by Mrs. Turner. A competition " The best, hand-made article." the cost, not to exceed one shilling, was won by Mrs. J. Runinev, who exhibited a hat made with paper. Ihe winner of another competition was Mrs. Harrison. The roll call, " The household task 1 most dislike," was very varied and amusing. Community singing concluded the evening's entertainment, after which supper was served. Tho election of officers for the forthcoming year resulted as follows:—President., Mrs. G. Liddlc: secictarv, Mrs. J. Tait, treasurer and reporter Mrs. .7. Butnnoy; executive. Mesdames 11. Hogg and Wilson and Misses Grafton and McLuckic. Mareretu. —The Mareretu Institute met at the residence of Mrs. Applovaid iecentlv. Two rounds were sung by all present. Miss Burke gave a song and Miss M. Bull a recitation. The trading table was well patronised and alternoon tea brought an enjoyable meeting to a close. Mrs. Flower, Mrs. Applcyard and Miss Spick were hostesses.
Paparoa. —At a meeting of the I'aparoa Institute readings were given bv Mrs. Wayne and a recitation by Kathleen Aickin. The roll-call was on recipes for biscuits. The trading table and Christmas stall were well patronised. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. J. Dodds and Mrs. Peacock, assisted by some of the members.
