MYSTERIOUS THEFT.
JEWELS WORTH £BOOO. CRIMINALS' COUP IN LONDON. LONDON, Dec. 27. What is describee) as a flawless crime was committed in London to-day. A registered packet containing emeralds and diamonds, valued at £BOOO, vanished under the eyes of Post Office detectives in the course of transit from Hatton Garden to Regent Street. The theft was not discovered until the packet was delivered. Then it was found to contain cotton wool instead of jewels. It is believed that an international gang of criminals, one of whom was disguised as a postman, was responsible for the crime.
