TOURING CRICKETERS.
SOUTH AFRICAN TEAM. COUNTRY SIDE DEFEATED. (Received December 28, 9.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 28. The match between the South African cricketers and a combined \ ictorian country team was concluded to-day. r lhe visitors made 418 runs for eight wickets in their first innings and declared, lhe chief scorers were: Curnow, 158; McMillan, 52; Steyn, 55 not out; Van der Merwe, 23 not out. The home side, who had been dismissed in their first innings for 88, scored 246 in their second. Christy took three wickets for 12 runs. The South Africans won by an innings and 84 runs. The South African cricketers will commence the third test match against Australia at Melbourne on Thursday.
