WAR DEBTS BURDEN.
SUMS OWED AND PAID. FIGURES FOR LAST YEAR. LON'PON. Dec. 20 The British war debt to the United States amounts to £938,958,463, of which £29,503.562 is held privately. The debt, was funded in 1923, at 3 per cent, for the first 10 years, and 3} per cent, thereafter, but in order to provide a sinking fund, the amount paid by Britain is and 4 per cent, respectively. The amount paid by Britain to the United States last year was £33,038,000. Against this, Britain received from the Allies, on account of loans during the war, the sum of £17,700,000, and £16,800,000 from Germany, on account of reparations, a total of £34,500,000. The total foreign debt owing to the United States by the various countries is £2,646,600,000.
