TROTTING CLUB MEETING. A DAY OF SUNSHINE. The. brilliantly fine and warm weather which greeted the opening day of (ho Auckland Trotting Club's Summer Meeting at Alexandra Park yesterday provided racegoers with the opportunity of viewing the charming and attractive fashions which the summer has brought, with it. It. was an opportunity of which full advantage was taken, and many striking and delightful ensembles were to be seen. Soft georgette and chiffon frocks with floating draperies, patterned crepe <le chine frocks in a sliahtly simpler style, and light-weight woollen suits vied with one another in popularity, I heir colours blending and harmonising effectively

against the brilliant green of the lawns. The hats, which have struck such a new note, in style this summer, were another attractive feature of the flocking, but. although there were a number of the Robin Ilood and "bowler types to be seen, wider brimmed hats also were popular, whether because of the heat of the. sun or because wearers realise tliev are kind to the face, it is hard to say. Their Excellencies the Governor-Gen-eral and the Lady Bledisloe, attended the meeting, Her Excellency wearing an ensemble of palest primrose chiffon with a sunmioi* collar, and a widobrimmed Bangkok hat, in a deeper shado of primrose, stitched with gold. Hellaby, coronation blue ninon and lace ensemble with a platinum fox fur collar and navy hat to match. 3\lrs. J. B. Mcintosh wore a black and rose floral chiffon frock with a black georgette coat and black straw hat; Mis. N. Neilson, black ring velvet frock and primrose hat; Mrs. P. O'Connor, black crepe de chine frock and wide-brimmed turquoise blue straw hat; Mrs. M. Walker, white floral linen frock and small white coarse straw hat; Mrs. J. Graham, bottle green patterned crepe de chine ensemble and green Ballibuntal hat to match; Mrs. J. Casey, black and white checked suit and white felt hat; Mrs. G 11.
