SHEFFIELD SHIELD CRICKET. VICTORIA'S GOOD RECOVERY. (Received December 2?, 11.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 28. In (be Sheffield Shield cricket match New South Wales v. Victoria the visitors who had made 276 runs in their first imiiiips scored 260 in their second to-day (O'Reilly 43). Smith took five wickets for 86 ami Ironmonger two for 58. Victoria, whose first innings total was 103, improved considerably in their second venture, making 314 for five wickets (Woodfull 147, O'Brien 51, Darling 52 not out). Victoria now requires 1.20 runs to win with five wickets to fall.
In the Sheffield Shield match Queensland v. South .Australia, at Adelaide, the local side, who made 421 in their first innings, scored 335 for seven in their second venture to-day and declared. V. Richardson made 338 and I'. Leo 54. Thurlow took three wickets for 95. Queensland, who had made 267 in their first innings, compiled 105 for two wickets in their second (Hogg 70). CRICKET IN ENGLAND.
