MR. ROWNTREE'S SERVICES.; PRESENTATION IN WELLINGTON. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] "WELLINGTON, Monday.. As a token of appreciation of his services to cricket in New Zealand, tlie Auckland veteran wicketkeeper, Mr. E. W. Rowntree, was presented with a case, of pipes during the luncheon adjournment-to-day. Sir. P. B. Broad, chairman of -the Wellington Cricket Association, made the presentation on behalf of the Wellington public and old players. He said whatever tho result cf the game, (he public in Wellington was delighted to seo Rowntree in action once more. He understood, but sincerely hoped it was not true, that if. was Rowntree's last appearance on the Basin Reserve. Mr. Broad concluded by wishing Rowntree all success in tlio future, and expressing the appreciation of enthusiasts in Wellington for all the wicketkeeper had done for the game in (he past. Mr. Rowntree thanked those responsible for the presentation. He said h° had had a long spell at (he game, »nd it was now his desire to see younger players given a chance.
