THE AUCKLAND RETURNS. PROSPECTS OF A RECORD. A substantial increase in the butter and cheese production of the Auckland Province is indicated by the official figures for November, which show a yield for tin* first five months of the .1931-32 season of 55,637,0001b. of butter-fat, which is 2.933,0001b., or 5.5 per cent., above the figures for the corresponding period a year ago. At the end of October the season's increase stood at 6.4 per cent. While that figure was not quite maintained in November, favourable conditions in the past four weeks have not only benefited the herds, but have also given farmers a fine opportunity to get in aufutnn feed. That being so, there is very little room for doubt that in volume of production the complete season will set a new record for the province. The November yield was 777,0001b., or 4 per cent., greater than that for November, 1930. On a cash basis the present season also shows an improvement. Taking the payout for 1930-31 at lid per 11). of butterfat, the first five months of that season yielded £2,416.000. This year, at Is per lb. paid out, the total is £2,784,000, or £368,000 mora.
