A wireless message from Port Moresby, the chief town of British New Guinea, confirms previous rumours that 17 natives were massacred in the Fly River district. A Papuan canoe party met others encamped on the bank of tho river. They made signs that they wanted to barter for tobacco and mixed with the campers. Tho women in tho canoes distributed tomahawks among their men, who attacked the others savagely. A police patrol has gone (o the scene.
