CHURCH IN SPAIN.
LETTER FROM THE POPE. PROTEST AGAINST ATTACKS. ROME, Oct. 16. Pope Pius, in a letter to the Papal Nuncio at Madrid, vigorously protests against the multiple offences inflicted on the sacred rights of the Church, which are the rights of God and of the soul. "I am now more than ever close to the faithful in Spain," he says, "sharing their sorrows in their present menaces and future dangers. I request the Spanish clergy to unite in a special intercession for the great tribulation affecting my beloved Spanish nation."
