THE DANNEVIRKE FAIR. 82£ GUINEAS TOP. PRICE. The New Zealand Aberdeen Angus Cattle Breeders' Association held its annual sale at Dannevirke on Tuesday last. There was quite a gijod attendance, but only a little more than half tlie offering met with competition. A large proportion of the offering was brought forward in only fair or indifferent condition, und taken all through the standard fell short of previous offerings at similar sales. A show was held in the morning, Mr. Leo. Lopdell, of Bay View, Ilawke's Bay, acting as judge for the third consecutive year. He awarded the championship to the five-year-old bull. Victor 11. of Wellington, exhibited by the estate of A. S„' G. Carlyon. Gwavns, but bred by Mr. Davie' Allan of Wellington. This bull afterwards topped the sale, being purchased by Mr. 13. G. Furlong, of Bunnythorpe, at 82$ guineas. Ho was sired by the imported and champion bull, Victor of Rarichie, who was also reserve champion at Perth before being imported from Scotland. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Company's silver challenge cup for the best group of three 6tud bulls -was keenly competed for, the award going for the first time to Mr. J. E. Hewitt, Mangamaire, with three two-year-old bulls all sired by Sulton of Ben Lomond. At the resulting 6ale Rangatira of Mangamaire was passed in at 80 guineas, and Kegent of Mangamaire, who was third in his class, was sold to the Massey Agricultural College at 42£ guineas. Buyers were present or represented at the ringside from Gißborne, Hawke'e Bay, Wairarapa. Taranaki and Canterbury. The sale was conducted by the various auctioneering firms. Messrs. Sherriff, Taihape: Dhu of Kowliiwhi, two years, by Eland of Byweli 30gns., Mr. N. J. Martin, Martinborough. In conjunction with New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company:—On account Mr. J. F. Hewitt, Mangamaire: Regent of Mangarpaire, two years, by Sultan of Ben Lomond, 42}gns., Massey Agricultural College.
