PLAN TO IMPROVE FINANCES. [ftiom orrt OWN CORRESPONDENT.] "\V HANO AH EI, Sat u itl ay. A special general meeting of the Whangarei Municipal Silver Band was held for the purpose of considering the financial position of the band. Mr. St. Clair Jounneaux, one of the Borough Council's representatives on the band executive, outlined various suggestions for improving the finances. It was agreed to confirm the executive's recommendation that a finance committee he formed consisting of the Mayor, Mr. W. Jones, and Messrs. A. T. Brainsby and Jounneaux, to review tho financial position, and carry out any suggestions for the reduction of the band's liabilities, [t was also decided to form an entertainment, committee, consisting of Messrs. D. Amos, A. Dobson and F. Eccles "1 am satisfied tho present difficulties can ho overcome by a united effort on the part of all," said the Mayor. "I feel that the hand will soon reestablish its high position for first-class music, and adjust its financial obligations."
