THE SCOUT MOVEMENT.
SYSTEM ON SOUND BASIS. INCREASED INTEREST SHOWN. [from our own correspondent.3 HAMILTON, Sunday. A conference of officers and leaders connected with tho Auckland Metropolitan Boy Scouts Association was held in Hamilton last evening. Mr. H. H. Clark presided over an attendance which exceeded 70. Representatives of the movement from Auckland and all parts of the South Auckland district were present. The chief guest was the metropolitan commissioner, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, of Auckland. Mr. Clark referred to the greatly-in-creased interest that had been taken in the Scout movement in recent years, and tho consequent heavy increase in membership. Mr. Holdsworth said that when he accepted the position of metropolitan commissioner a few years ago he found there was a great deal of cleaning up to do, both in Auckland and in South Auckland. The Scout movement in the Auckland Province was now in a sounder position than it had been for very many years. Scoutmaster S. G. Lewis, of Hamilton, was presonted with a medal to commemorate the completion of five years' service. The conference considered a series of remits received from various groups dealing with the internal operation of the system. Plans for regular field days and for visits of officers were discussed.
