HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. FAIR AND WARMER. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— The intense high barometric pressure system, enclosing an extensive area of, fine weather, still covers tho Dominion, and its centre remains practically stationary north-westward of New Zealand. Expect further fair to fine ■weather generally, with warm temperatures. Variable and moderate breezes, light southerly prevailing. Seas smooth to moderate. Local outlook: Fair and warmer. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 30.30fn. Midnight, Saturday .. .. 30.30 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum, 74deg.; Minimum, 51deg. . GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —An anti-cyclone covers the entire Dominion, and a cyclone which appears to be intensifying is located off the south-east coast of Australia. Indications are for light and variable winds, with northerlies prevailing, northerlies later becoming general and freshening. Seas smooth to moderate generally. Moderate, ' but freshening, northerly winds, with moderate seas in the Tastnan Sea. Weather still fair to fine and hazy everywhere, except in the far south, where showers are probable. ■ A general increase in cloud, followed later by rain, is likely in 24 to 36 hours.
