GOLD ISSUES STOPPED.
BRITAIN'S LEAD FOLLOWED. SCANDINAVIAN COUNTRIES. LONDON. Sept. #t. Benmark has suspended the operation of the gold standard and has prohibited the *xporfc of gold. W£r stated to-day by the Chancellor the Exchequer, Mr. Snowden, in the House of Commons that Portugal, Norway, Sweden and Bolivia had temporarily abandoned the gold standard. The Swedish krona weakened to 17, par being 18.159, following Sweden's decision to drop the gold standard, but the Noregian krone was unchanged. POSITION OF NORWAY. TRADING DIFFICULTIES. OSLO. Sept. !?S. The Governor of the Bank of Norway e nies that the suspension of the gold standard was due to difficulty in continues on the gold basis. He said:—"The British decision has created extraordinary dingers to Norwegian trade, especially dipping e shall try to limit the harm, and up the internal purchasing power ki'one. Our decision was reached •tar consultation with other nations."-
