Two pjlmersion North horses, Winnigan and King's Counsel, are engaged in the steeplechase while tho Taranaki gelding MooyaHgi appears in tho hurdles. The Mitchelson Cup field numhers 15, Including Historic, winner in 1929. Seatown, last year's winner, My Own, Taneriri, Motere, winner of tho last Auckland Cup, and Little Doubt, who won the Avondale Cup last Saturday. There are many fine sprinters among the 18 acceptors for the Shorts Handicap, especially the brilliant Karapoti, who has nob raced since last April. The Great Northern Guineas field of 16 includes all those who competed in the Avondale Guineas on Monday except I,imeen, who was not entered, but whose owner is represented by Aspian. The two-year-old classic, the. Welcome Stakes, has drawn no fewer than*26 acceptors, including the 17 who raced in tho Avondale Stakes last Saturday, wllile among the newcomers are Midinette, by Limond— Motley, and Genesta, owned by Mr. G. M. Currie, of Wanganui, and La Moderne, gister to Gay Ballerina, and Inflation, from Palmerston North. The Gordon Handicap has drawn tho fergest field, 21, and there are 22 in the Flying Handicap, including Lady Pam, jrho has forfeited her cup engagement. Details are as follows:
