OUTWITTING SPRINGBOKS.
NEED OF WELSH FORWARDS. Welsh forwards have long been famed for their resolute scrummaging qualities, but tbe fetish of wing-forward play in recent years has robbed packs of their solidity and of their capacity to wheel, says an English writer. It is certain that one of the chief needs of the practices and early club games is the development of scrummaging ability. Some means must be found to outwit the Springboks' forwards, who will definitely he ptones heavier than the average Welsh pack. Honest scrummaging and scientific wheeling seem to me the a;athods most likely to succeed against t,h* tourists' scrummage™.
