The Cambridge Competitions Society's ninth annual festival was opened yesterday arid is to be continued until Friday. A feature is the record number of entries, there being a total of 5C6 against 440 last year. Wretched weather was experienced on the opening day, but there were good attendances, especially last evening, when the festival was officially opened by the president, Mr. H. L. Possenniskie. Hie adjudicators aie Messrs. Barton Ginger, of Wellington (elocution), and Thomas Vaughan, Masterton (vocal and instrumental). Results to date are:— Piano Solo, under 12.
