TRAINING AT HASTINGS.

There was quite a large attendance at the Hasting! l ) track this morning watching the work of candidates for the Auckland and Napier Park meetings. There were no outstanding gallops, although several horses put up sound performances and if pressed could have improved. The tracks were in excellent order. The trestles on (he course proper were in cioser (o the rails and consequently (ho times were faster than on the previous morning. The Hunting Song—Lady Ainslie gelding, with a companion, sprinted three furlongs on the plough in 395. He is moving exceptionally well. Kahikatoa, with his trainer in the saddle, a fair weight, galloped one and a-quarler miles (he reverse way 011 the course proper. He liad Imperii] Fame to assist him. The time for the mile was 1.47. a. fair gallop considering that Kahikatoa finished well over the whole distance. Margaret Rose, Cassadora (Hunting Song —Tigritiga) and the Gamscourt —Moisy filly sprinted half-a-mile on the plough in 525. Cassadora finished in front, but the others were fairly handy. Gold Trail and Lotus Lily, the latter carrying more weight, sprinted half-a-mile on the course proper in 51s. Gold Trail finished in front and showed pace. Goshawk and Nea Lap. Goshawk and Nea, Lap galloped a mile on the course proper in 1.47, both finishing well. Nea Lap as usual played up at the start. These two should run well in their Napier Park engagements. Hunting Cry, well bandaged, worked slowly once round 011 the plough and appeared to bo sound. Flamingo and Princess Bell, both moving freely, sprinted three furlongs on the grass in Us. Princess Bell finished in front, but Flamingo i 3 a poor track performer. The two appear to be all right again, Lockerby and Night Speaker worked on the plough with a sprint up the straight, Night Speaker pleasing. Brambletorn, Kapalio and Moa Bird galloped a mile on the grass in 1.17 with Brambletorn in front and doing it best. Kapalio, on the outside, shaped well. Speed and. Swift and Sure, the latter carrying more weight, dashed over half-a-mile on the grass in Sis. Swift and Sure finished in front, but Speed was left slightly. Both arc likely soils. Head Seranjr. Cuticle. Great Charter and Tahoma sprinted six furlongs in 1.17. Cuticle and Great Charter finished in front, the latter doing it nicely. He isi very well at present and should run prominently at Napier Park. . Charmaline did a similar task 111 1.18, finishing well. . , Shrewd has joined V. B. Collelo s team. Ho worked on the plough. Royal I arado was allotted a similar task. Jenny Diver's Spirint. Jenny Diver sprinted half-a-mile comfortably on the grass in 525. She is very forward and may go North. _ ... Sir Spear and Acmil worked pleasingly over half-u-mile 011 the plough in 525, with Acmil in front. l'ukeii. Gresham, Brown .Jest and Gold Mag sprinted eix furlongs on the grass 111 1,19. Gold Mag finished in front, but was doing her Host. Gresham being handy. Royal Elm, Manuiri and Princess Elizabeth, all jumping perfectly, did once round over the hurdles in 3.40. Royal Elm finished in front and is shaping well considering that he has been in work only a short time. My Own worked one and a-quarter miles 011 the course proper. Benefice picking her up at the mile post, after which Ihe pace was forced. My Own beat Benefice home and finished strongly, the last milo being run in 1.47. a pleasing performance. Royal Picture sprinted haHf-a-mile on the course proper with Rasonli in 50s, a. good gallop, Rasouli being handy. Autumn Dawn, King Mann (looking btrfcly). Bradman. Jf nokawosi; Arnunah and The Plumber all worked separately. It lifts not yet been decided whether My Own, Jenny Diver and lvuhiiialoa will make the trip to Auckland.
