NEW ZEALAND APPLES.

SHIPMENTS TO BRITAIN. ' LAST OF THE SEASON. [from ora own correspondent. ] LONDOS". August 21. Some 25,000 cases of New Zealand apples are still in store, 22,000 cases being at Southampton and 3COO in London. These are being cleared as thev are called for, the prices obtained being:—Stunners, 10s 6d to 12s; Dccherty and Bokewoods. 12s to 14s: and Statesmans, which are wasty. at a lower figure. Granny Smiths, of which there are a few hundred cases, supply a luxury trad; at from 15s to 18s. Market conditions are not very favourable for the last of the apples. American supplies and English apples are coming forward in large quantities, and soft fruit from the Continent, which previously went to Germany, is selling at a low price in London. Peaches from Italy last week sold at Is a tray of 38, and they were obtainable at 12 for 8d retail. - Very large quantities. of New Zealand apples were landed on the Continent , when the German trouble was at its height. Some of the produce was in a bad state of preservation, especially Jonathans and Delicious, and for a time it was felt there would be heavy losses. As ithappened, however, importers held off the market, the New Zealand apples were practically the only fruit going into Germany, and the agents were actually able to raise the price for the sound fruit. The badlv-conditicned fruit waa also disposed of, at a lower price.
