THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. FIRMER CONDITIONS CONTINUE. Stronger conditions continued in the investment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange at tho single call on Saturday morning, when fair trading was recorded at improved rates. Support weakened a shade for Government loans, which were nob productive of any business. Inquiry was firm throughout the bank section and sellers operated less freely. Australasias were again vainly sought at £7 18s, an advance of 3s. Commercials of Australia also moved favourably. Nationals of New Zealand, after being taken late on Friday at the firmer price of £3 10s 6d, remained in demand at the same level without any requirements being satisfied. New Zealands moved up 3d to change hands afc 42s 6d. Goldsbrough-Morts reacted slightly, offers being marked down Is to 19s, while holders conceded 6d in lowering their price to 21s 6d. Supplies of Auckland Gas ordinary remained firmly held at 23s 3d and the contributing issue improved 3d in a transaction at 17s. Other sections were quieter, buyers withdrawing support from a number of issues which were fairly freely inquired for on Friday. Offers for British Tobaccos moved back Is to 21s. Colonial Sugars were steady. In mining a new level was attained by Waihis, which were turned over 2d better afc 16s Id. In Grand Junctions a late Friday transaction was recorded afc 4s, a rise of a penny. Offers for Mount Lyells held firm at 16s 6d and sellers came forward afc 17s 3d. Tho Stock Exchange will be closed today, Dominion Day.
