CONDITIONS IN THE SOUTH.
Auckland.—A boisterous north-v/est wind and heavy rain was experienced on Saturday morning and occasional light showers in the evening. - Yesterday was fine, the wind being light south-west. The sky was overcast and there was 8 recurrence of showers in the evening. Wellington.—The weather in Wellington on Saturday morning was warm and sunny, but late in the afternoon a southerly wind suddenly sprang up. bringing heavy rain The rain cleared in the evening almost as suddenly as it came. Sunday was beautifully fine, with a light northerly wind. Christchurch.—A south-westerly wind on Saturday brought heavy showers of rain. The weather cleared toward evening, and the night was fine with a light frost. Sunday was beautifully fine and warm. The barometer fell later and the reading was 29.95 in. Dunedin.—The weather was overcast and unsettled on Saturday morning, but fine and sunny in the afternoon, with • fresh wind from the south-west. The maximum temperature was 62 degrees, and the barometer was steady at 29.60 m* Sunday was beautifully fine. The baro» meter was at 29.60 in.
