ACTIVITY OF THIEVES.

SEVERAL SMALL BURGLARIES. CAR STOLEN FROM GARAGE. Three burglaries were committed in the suburbs on Saturday evening, a shop and two houses being entered. The front door of the grocery shop of Mrs. J. Gajusch, at the corner of Great South Road and Rockfield Road, Ellershe, was forced. The intruder did not disturb the contents, but took a small amount of money. During the absence of the occupants, a house at 266, Remuera Road, owned by Mr. A. G. Taylor, was searched for money, while an intruder also visited the home of Mr. A. J. Martin, at 25, Pukeora Avenue, Remuora. In neither house were any valuables stolen, money being the sole object of the thief's visit. On Saturday morning it was discovered that foqr business premises in the city had been entered. A garage at 77, Beach Road, owned by Mr. C. R. Vincent, was forced and an Austin motorcar, owned by Aulsebrook and Company, Limited, which had been left there since Wednesday, was removed. The car had not been rocovered last evening. The police believe that the car was taken by the thie.ves who the same night attempted to break into the Gilmore Oil Company's store ,in the Strand, Parnell, without success. A store next door was entered, and a number of tools stolen. The engineering workshop of Mr. J. W. Henley, at 58, Fanshawe Street, was also entered, but nothing was stolen.
