ZELANDA RECITAL.
SECOND CONCERT GIVEN. ATTRACTIVE VARIETY OF SONGS. The second recital given by Margherita Zelanda in the Town Hall concert chamber on Saturday evening provided. an attractive variety of vocal numbers. Zelanda again scored the greatest success in ballad numbers, but the programme also contained a number of very fine excerpts for the coloratura voice. The opening number was Sir Landon Ronald's "Prelude," which was given with commendable vigour of style. The succeeding item, "Oh Ship of My Delight," was not quite so attractive, the rendering being marred by a certain wooliiness in the top notes. Willeby's song "The Sea Gipsy" was very pleasing, the group being concluded with "Mi Chiamano Mimi," from Puccini's "La Boheme." The second group was opened with "Just For To-day,", one of the most popular songs of the evening. Arditi's waltz song "Parla" was a gay and dainty item, which really showed Zelanda's voice at its best. "The Gipsy and the Bird," a bright coloratura number, was given with a fiute obligato by Mr. Julian Dunn, who also contributed a number of solos during the evening. The second half of the programme opened with Puccini's "In Quollc Trine Morbide," from "Manon Lescaut." This was followed by two ballads, "The Green Isle of Erin" and "Killarney." La Forge's "Song of the Open" concluded this group. Kahn's "Ave Maria" opened the final group, which contained two fine coloratura numbers in "Saper Vorreste," from Verdi's "Ballo in Maschera," and tlio "Jewel Song" from "Faust." The remaining item on the programme, a little song, entitled "Missing," # was most attractive. Mr. Cyril Towscy played the accompaniments in an able manner.
