AIRMAN DROPS MESSAGE.
" REAL HURRY THIS TIME." ANXIETY FELT IN BURMA. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrizht. (Received September '25. 9 25 p.m.) SINGAPORE. Sept. 2" A message from Cheribon says AirCommodore Kingsford Smith left there for Victoria Point at 3.45 a.m. local time to-day. The airman passed over Singapore at 11.15 a.m. Fie dropped the following message by means of a small parachute to a friend at the Singapore air base: " Sorry I cannot stop. lamin a real hurry this time." A message received from Victoria Point late this evening says the aeroplane has not yet been reported, and some anxiety is felt. Air-Commodore Smith plans to reach London in seven days, against the eight, days 21 hours occupied by Mr. J. H. Mollison, and he is also anxious to beat Mr. C. W. A. Scott's record of nine days 13 hours for the journey from England back to Australia. His route for the outward journey is:—Wvndham to Cheribon (near Batavia), 1532 miles; Cheribon to Victoria Point, Burma, 13S0; Victoria Point to Calcutta. 1196; Calcutta to Karachi, 1333; Karachi to Bagdad, 1690; Bagdad to Athens, 1232: Athens to Paris, 1514; Paris to London. 217.
