THE REDPATH CUP. AWARD MADE TO DEMPSTER. [by telegraph.—phess association.] CHRISTCHTTRCH, Friday. The management committee of the New j Zealand Cricket Council decided this evening to award the fledpath Ctip for the best batting average for the year to C. S. Dempster. The committee took into account the Plunket Shield matches last summer, and the tour in England. . In Plunket Shield matches, G. Weir had an average of 139 and H. M. McGirr 64. Counting in the English tour, Dempster rcsa from 20 to 52.80 and Blunt to 43.30. while Weir fell to 33 and McGirr did not go to England.
