AVONDALE CLUB'S YEAR.

K satisfactory season, both from a playing and financial point of view, was shown by the report and balance-sheet presented at the annual meeting of the Avondale Lawn Tennis Club. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PUIvEKOHE, Friday The sixth annual meeting of the Franklin Tennis Association was held this week. In his report for the past year the president. Mr. M. S Campbell, mentioned thai If, clubs were affiliated to the association, representing 594 players. Eight, teams competed in the A g:rade competition and II teams in the B grade competition. Puk'Bkoiie won the former and Mangatawhiri Valley the latter The Mercer Club retained the Mnssey Cup. Cups had been provided as trophies, to be competed for annually, in both ladies' and men's Franklin singles championships. Coaching of young nlayers in the district by prominent players from Auckland had been arranged through the efforts of the association. It was hoped to continue the coaching in the new season and to develop a scheme for a children's tournament. The financial statement showed a cash credit of £3'2. with .liabilities nil.
