ROWING.

SEASON AT NORTH SHORE. The past season was very successful, according to tlie report to be presented at the annual meeting of the North Shore Rowing Club next Tuesday evening. Ihe report states that in spite of a very restricted list of active members the club's premier position in Auckland rowing had been well maintained. The season opened with an active membership of 32, 11 new members being elected, while 17 resigned, making the present active membership 26. In pursuance of the club's policy of applying lcgatta donations as far a3 possible to the purchase ot new plant, a new racing cOll / vertible pair-oar and double-sculler, with oars, was ordered. This had given every satisfaction. , Expenditure on the clubhouse during the season had been somewhat heavy. Suggestions made Inst season for a new clubhouse were considered by the executive, which appointed a sub-committee to investigate the possibilities of raising the necessary funds. The club's re?atta successes closely rivalled those of Inst year, but were gained in different clashes. The junior fouri finished up a very successful season by entering the senior class and winning the Auckland provincial senior championship. Other successes were gained by the double-scullers, junior pairs and by W. J Dean, the club's deputy-captain, in the single sculls. The club was honoured by the selection of A. E. Cotes as stroke, and N. Senear as cox, of the Auckland provincial eight. During the year the club was the recipient of two more trophies for inter-club competition, the Alfred J. Powley Memorial Cup and the J. B. Hislop Cup. The other two trophies, under the control of this club, the McJlwraith Cup and Barrett Cup. provided good racing. The former was won by St. George's and the latter by North Shore. With four wins and one second, the club holds the Brett Memorial, Alfred J. Powley Memorial and Barrett Cups, and the Smith Shield. The financial statement shows an improvement of £2 7s lid oyer that of last, year, after £ls had been paid on a new boat costing £7O.
