KEEPERS OF CROSSINGS.
ADDINGTON COMPLAINT. "This association should make an emphatic protest against the withdrawal of crossing-keepers so early at night at Selwyn and Montreal Streets when there is so" much traffic about. These crossings are positively dangerous," said the chairman of the Addington Burgesses Association, Mr. W. JI. Griffiths, at a meeting of the association. "Wo have had one accident recently at Selwyn Street," he continued, "and wo do not want any more." It was pointed out that, there were no permanent signals at Selwyn, Montreal and Durham Streets, and when the crossingkeepers were absent there was no indication when a train was coming. It was decided to write to the Railway Department emphasising the danger and protesting against the withdrawal of the keepers at early hours. It was also resolved to write to the Canterbury Automobile Association asking its co-opcmtion in the matter.
