EXPORTING STUD SHEEP.

| SHIPMENT TO SOUTH AMERICA | ! VALUABLE CONSIGNMENT. j It will be ot great interest to sheep ; breeders throughout the Dominion and j in overseas countries to know that a very I valuable consignment of New Zealand--5 bred stud sheep has just been made to | South America. For years past the j annual shipment from the Dominion to ! the various countries of South America | has been steadily growing, but it was ! hardly anticipated in these difficult times I that orders for sheep would come to hand J this season. However, Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd., advise that they have just made a shipment to clients in Uruguay and in Argentina. It is a very valuable consignment, comprising 53 head of Lincoln and Romney sheep from Wairarapa breeders and Corriedale sheep from Canterbury breeders. The Romneys and a portion of tho Lincoln consignment are destined for Uruguay and the Corriedales and the balance of the Lincolns for Argentina. The Corriedales were bred by the estate of the late Mr. H. T. Little, Hui Hui, "Woodgrove, North Canterbury, and comprise nine one-shear rams, these being the first and second prize pens at the last Canterbury Metropolitan Show. The Lincolns included prize-winners at the Royal, Wairarapa and Masterton Shows last season. Ten of the rams were bred by Mr. W. Rayner, The Cliffs, whose sheep have won a high reputation in the Argentine. Among other prize-winners were included his first-prize pair of ram hoggets at the Royal Show. From Mr. L. R. Wilton's Tirohanga stud a two-shear ram, a Taluable sire, and two outstanding hoggets were shipped. The consignment of Lincolns was completed with two attractive one-shear rams bred by Mr. H. J. Rayner and an outstanding ram hogget. The wool on the latter sheep was just brushing the ground. This consignment is considered by the shippers to be one of the best, selections of Lincolns they have yet forwarded to South America. The Romneys comprised six ram hoggets bred by Mr. Q. Donald, of the Alloa stud, and made the fourth successive order received from the same breeders by Mr. Donald. There were also two ram hoggets bred by Mr. A. P. Southev, of Masterton, one of them being the first prize-winning hogget at tho last ■ Masterton Show. These sheep were i typical, being low-set, good-framed sheep ! with beautiful crimpy wool. The conj signment should be a good advertisement j for the stud breeders of the Dominion, j Unfortunately, tire costs in connection with shipping these sheep to Soutfy j America have considerably increased, the | consular and inspection fees, plus exchange, all increasing the ultimate cost to the buyer. . i
