CASES OF INFLUENZA.
POSITION IN THE SOUTH. Three cases of pneumonic influenza were notified to the Health Department in the Canterbury district last week, this being one more case than in the previous week. One of the cases was fatal. A Christchurch doctor states that there is no cause for alarm and no fear of an epidemic, although precautions were necessary. Although influenza is fairly prevalent in Dunedin at present, no cases of the pneumonic type have been reported to the Health Department, and the district medical oflicer of health stated that there are no signs of the malady spreading to such an extent as to cause any alarm.
