THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. QUIET CONDITIONS CONTINUE. Easy conditions persisted on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday', some further improvement in the market for several Australian issues providing one of the few favourable features. Hie giltedged section remained quiet, with ft slightly irregular tendency. Unchanged rates were realised for 1937 5£ bonds, which sold at £95. Buyers entered the market for 1938 and 1939 per cent, taxfree Inscribed Stock at £93 but no quotation was forthcoming. Gisborne Sheepfarmers 1941, 6 per cent., debentures were taken unaltered at £72 10s, after which offers were written down £2 to £67 compared with the previous day's closing price. General weakness continued to prevail in the banks section. Offers for Commercials of Australia weakened another 2d to 12s 6d, and supplies were available at 12s lOd. English, Scottish and Australians made slightly easier rates in a transaction at £3 7s. New Zealands rallied a shade, buyers advancing 6d to 41s 6d. Holders asked 41s Bd. Further headway was registered by Goldshi'ough-Morts. Buyers opened 3d firmer than yesterday's level at 16s 6d and attracted a selling quotation of 17s 9d. At the close nf the day buyers were prepared to pay 17s 6d for the scrip, with sellers holding out for 18s 6d. In gas Aucklands recovered 2d in a deal at 23s 2d, at which .price further supplies were available. Late rates were made by New Zealand Breweries, which were done at 28s 9d. In general investments improved support continued for British Tobaccos and Colonial Sugars. Fanners' Tradings were marked down 6d in a sale at 5s 4d, and easier levels also existed for Wilsons Cements, which were dealt in 3d cheaper at 34s 6d. Trading in mining was confined to Waihis, which wero done twice a penny easier at 15s 9d, while Junctions were turned over again at 3s B<l. Mount Lyells were sought 3d firmer at 15s.
