MEN OF KENT.
SOCIAL EVENING. An enjoyable musical programme, followed by dancing, passed a very pleasant evening at the social held by the Association of the Men of Kent in the Fabian Club rooms last evening. The rooms were charmingly decorated with bowls of spring flowers. On arrival the guests were received by the president, Mr. J. A. Leonard, and Mrs. Leonard, the latter wearing a frock of black Chantilly lace. A cordial welcome to the members was extended by Mr. Leonard, who expressed the hope that the society, which is a branch of the old-established Men of Kent Association in England, would increase in membership and activity iu Auckland. The programme, which was arranged by Mr. Walter Impett, opened with the pianoforte duet " Tarantelie " (Rubensteiu), played by Miss Ailsa Walker and Mr. Impett, and was later followed by a pianoforte solo " Polish Dance " (Scharwenka) by Miss Walker. Songs were given by Miss A. W. Carmichael, Miss Gladys Hosking and Mr. W. Braham, and recitations by Miss Doris Messer. Mr. Impett acted as accompanist. At the conclusion of the programme supper was served, and dancing continued for the rest of the evening. Among those present were Mrs. J. A. Leonard, Mrs. Forbes, Mrs. Pearson, Mrs. Jenks, Mrs. W r asey, Mrs. Coppins, Mrs. Mills, Mrs. Hutcher, Miss Hutcher, Mrs. Farmer, Miss Farmer, Mrs. Dickens, Mrs. Lawrence, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Blackman, Mrs. Tapson, Miss Smith, Mrs. Bradbury, Mrs. Robinson, Miss Ross, Miss Walker, Miss Carmichael and Miss G. Hosking.
